United Kingdom

I started my European tour in the UK, all because I met one of my now best friends, Joe, in Costa Rica the year before. We stayed pen pals for quite some time and eventually I bought a ticket to visit him in the spring. He lived in a village called Callow End, England, and his family was kind enough to take us in for our time there before heading to the mainland. Not necessarily the most scenic stop of the tour, it was by far my favorite. Joe had quite the community, his friends and family made this place feel like a hometown I never knew I had. We spent two weeks there before our mainland adventure, then flew back and spent a weekend in Tenby, Wales. The town was unlike anything I'd seen: multicolored townhouses stacked along the coast, vibrant and unhurried. At the end of my time in Britannia, I said goodbye to my new lifelong friend as I headed off for the other side of the world.
