North Carolina

North Carolina is my most recent trip in the states, having gone earlier this year in February. We went right after one of the biggest snowstorms in East Coast history, and it left this beautiful blanket of snow over everything. It was practically snowing the whole time we were there too. We drove up with my buddy and his family, along with my girlfriend and his, for a snowboarding trip, but of course I made the most of it and took some photos along the way. One thing about these pictures: this is the first trip I ever shot entirely in black and white. Usually I'm a color film guy, or at least mostly color, but this was the first time I went purely black and white film, and I'm very glad I did. I think it changed both how I took the pictures and how they came out. You're not distracted by any color, just the composition, the lighting, and of course the white snow against everything else in black. It gives this mood that I really enjoyed. Definitely one of my favorite trips I've taken with friends, and a great time all around.
